I'm think I got this bookwyrm thing right. I ended up more-or-less manually importing ~1,000 books. I'm sure there is supposed to be any easier way.

I previously had accounts @fu@bookwyrm.social @fu@millefeuilles.cloud and @fu@bookwyrm.world, I think this one will be here to stay but I might need to find a less expensive hosting solution.

Sonny Whitelaw: City of the Gods (Paperback, 2005, Fandemonium Books)

When a Crystal Skull is discovered beneath the Pyramid of the Sun in Mexico, it …

This book was OK. This is story of SG-1 and their trip into a far off moon that is still following the religion of the ancient Aztecs. The Go'auhld here, however, are not very strong and need the followers to believe for the sake of believing and fight amongst themselves with no real winners. An old "colleague" of Dr. Jackson has unearthed a Crystal Skull under the Mayan pyramids that it self is a tranporter. However he thinks he's gone back in time. returnI don't feel Whitelaw did a great job capturing the true characters of O'Neil and Carter. Particularly their story long ability to allow the children to believe that they are gods. In a very short time with life in the line maybe, but not for days and weeks at a time. O'Neil wouldn't just be uneasy with this idea, he'd do more about it. returnreturnAs the Sg-1 …

Sally Malcolm: A Matter of Honor (Paperback, 2004, Fandemonium Books)

No one gets left behind... Five years after Major Henry Boyd and his team, SG-10, …

Significantly better than the first in the series. Characters are well written, I again fall in love with T'ealc and his quiet yet in your face ways. returnreturnThis story takes place during the 7th season of SG-1. Senator Kinsley, now a candidate for VP, has set his own ambassador to set diplomatic relations on a distant world. SG-1 have to come with as his body guards. Soon Jack learns that he's trying to obtain technology specifically intended to work around the 4th amendment of the Constitution, and they try to put a stop to it. In the mean time they find anti-grav technology, floating cities, silent transports etc. that are beyond their wildest dreams. returnreturnJack remembers his friends on SG-10 still trapped trying to gate out of a black hole 5 years ago. Could this technology save them? In their investigation to both stop Kinsley ad save their friends, they …

Billy Grahm: Angels (AudiobookFormat, 1995, Book Trax)

Dr. Graham lifts the veil between the visible and the invisible world to give us …

When I went through David Aikman's "Great Souls" about 2 years ago the section on Billy Graham gave me great hope. His story about how the book Angels improved a study not seen in the mainstream made me really want to read this book. returnreturnHowever, this book was disappointing. Graham indicates that he was disheartened by the growing interest in the occult in the 1970s, particularly demonology. He indicated that he had considering writing a book on demonology from a Christian perspective, but chose to write this instead, still dealing with the supernatural. returnreturnWhile I was hoping for an in depth look at Angelic connections in the scriptures, that was very shallow, instead we got a few shallow scripture references, a whole lot of anecdotes, and each chapter ending annoyingly with a request to accept Jesus as your savior. This may have been exactly what the 1970s needed, especially in …

Brant James Pitre, Michael Barber, Jesse Romero: Jesus & the End Times (AudiobookFormat, 2017, Casscom Media)

This powerful 8-CD teaching series was developed to give us a Catholic perspective on the …

This audio book is actually a collection of lectures, perhaps all recorded over the same weekend retreat. returnreturnAll in all it was pretty good. It was VERY Catholic, and by that I mean frequent references to terminology that other Christians may be unfamiliar and/or uncomfortable with (Like "Heresy" and "Eucharist"). returnreturnAs with most Catholic teaching they take the focus of the teaching from the Gospels and the words of Christ and then use other information to back up their particular interpretation. returnreturnIt surprised me how many times that Jesus talked about the end of the world, the surprising confusion between the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem with the destruction of the world, but what I was most surprised to learn was that the idea of the "rapture" (like described in "Left Behind") did not even exist until the 19th century, and was first penned by a 15 year old …

Richard Hooker (H. Richard Hornberger), William E. Butterworth: MASH Goes to Las Vegas (1975)

It was okay. Would probably have been a better story of it was just a over if story and want tried to tie it to MASH. In particular Butterworth does a horrible job when it comes to who Radar is. He's not some magical mind reader, but this is the second novel shereturnHe has treated Radar as such. returnreturnAlso although the book is advertised as "The Smash TV hit..." It is carry clear that the novel universe and the TV universe are not the same, not only is the lost of Hotlips's husband's different than on T.V. Radar also invited Henry Blake to his wedding, even though he died in T.V.

Richard Hooker (H. Richard Hornberger): MASH Goes to San Francisco (1976, Pocket Books)

As usual we spend more time trying to find a way for the gang to accidentally get back together than we actually do with a story once we get there. It's really an old trope by book 11 (9th that Butterworth wrote). At this point I'm not sure if its even worth finishing the series, but I did buy them all.

Richard Hooker (H. Richard Hornberger), William E. Butterworth: M*A*S*H goes to Texas (Paperback, 1977, Pocket Books)

A TEN-GALLON TIPPLE IN TEXAS!

When Nurse Esther Flannagan travels to Dallas for the …

Butterworth gives us another tale of some random foreigners trying to get together with Hawkeye and Trapper and it takes nearly the whole book for them to get there. returnreturnThis time they through in a congressman who had been mentioned before and his wife who is all mad that their daughter wants to be more than just a big boobed cheerleader. returnreturnSomehow the uncle of the wife ends up in a chewing tobacco commercial with his Indian Compatriot, but they wouldn't include their buffalo because that just wouldn't be believable. Said Buffalo, Teddy Rosevelt, ends up driving the Hurse so they can meet up with Hot-Lips all pansi acapella choir, but can they do it before the Knights of Columbus Marching band shows up? returnreturnIf that sounds fun, read this book if not, give it a pass.

William E. Butterworth III: MASH Goes to Hollywood (Paperback, Pocket)

MASH Goes to Hollywood* is a 1976 comedic spin-off novel co-written by Richard Hooker (the …

Certainly the best I've read in Butterworth's Mash series. Contrary to what the title says nearly all of this story takes place in Maine. So better than the last couple were he spends the whole time trying to figure out how to get his characters to some far off place like Morocco.

We are introduced to a new character, the ugliest state trooper in Maine, who is a great doctor but without the doctor training. Even being so ugly he apparently still can get the ladies, including some hookers that Don Rhotten brings with him to Maine, and the star of a new TV show that is going to be shot in Maine.

All in all a zany adventure in the deeps woods, with a few distractions of Hollywood mogul who knows how to write a contract to screw over everyone else, and Boris the opera singer gets …

Robert A. Heinlein: Farmer in the Sky (AudiobookFormat)

Farmer In The Sky is a 1950 science fiction novel by Robert A. Heinlein about …

This audio book was pretty darn good. One of Earth's newest Eagle Scouts Bill Lermer has to leave his troop behind as he and dad are selected to go to Jupiter's moon Ganymeade. On top of that, his dad is getting remarried, and he had no idea ahead of time. returnreturnThe trip to Jupiter teaks forever and is boring, so ta da "lets invent space scouts". Its actually pretty interesting to see how they adapt the patrol method to the set up themselves. returnreturnOf course that gets in even more awkward when they get to Jupiter and find other scouts already there. How to councils merge? (My description makes this sound boring, but its not). returnreturnBill and his dad have to find a way to farm on the moon. Its hard work, and some of the settlers want to return to the over crowded earth, but there is no way …

Richard Hooker (H. Richard Hornberger), William E Butterworth: M*A*S*H Goes to Miami (Paperback, 1976, Pocket Books)

Due to somewhat unusual circumstances, all recounted here in full, honest and bibulous detail, the …

This book started out fantastic. The first chapter deals with Hawkeye and trapper in their volunteer role as medics of the local boy scout troop. They give ever boy in the troop a free physical before they go to summer camp, and at the Camp the serve as the BSA Health Officer. It was a few quick stories. Butterworth could have easily written an entire book about such adventures covering a summer at camp that would have been a fun unique addition to his Mash Series. returnreturnBut alas, quickly it devolves into Buttherworth's standard format of something happens, in this case a Cuban boy gets hurt at camp is then carried for by the Finest Kind Fish Market and Clinic and then his rich family in Miami wants to pay for it but since the FACS refuses they make a large donation to Hotlips' hospital in New Orleans. Then some …

Robert A. Heinlein: Red Planet (AudiobookFormat, 2008, Full Cast Audio)

Jim Marlow and his strange-looking Martian friend Willis were allowed to travel only so far. …

This audiobook was pretty unbelievable. We follow an 18 year old, Jim Malone, as he is to leave his home in the migrant colony of Mars to go off to college. returnreturnHis pet Willis comes along for the ride, but ther is no pets allowed. Of course he looks like a Volley Ball so he just might make it. returnreturnHowever, Willis has an issue, he can repeat everything he says. Not exactly like a Parrot, he's more sentient than that, but he has no voice of his own. This lead to us learning the real plot to destroy migration and the free market economy of Mars and bring in a forced Communism that will compelled destroy rural Mars. returnreturnOur Hero must break out of school and warn the colonists. He meets some martians along the way who just might save the day, but is Willis really the key to all …

Ludwig Von Mises, Jeff Riggenbach, Narrator: Human Action (AudiobookFormat, Misses Institute)

Ludwig von Mises is to economics what Albert Einstein is to physics. Human Action is …

Very Very very long. While everything in this audio book was good, all, or nearly all, was repated from what I had learned in my week at "Rothbard University" If you want an introduction to Economics, this is far too much. If you want an audio book, this is probably too long for it to be of use, if you want a reference as to why free markets work, this is a good one. returnreturnAs usual I again recommend purchasing the dead tree version, but cannot recommend the audio book with only 3 stars.

U. S. Soccer Federation: The Official Rules of Soccer (Paperback, 2002, Triumph Books)

I was hoping that this book would let me better understand Soccer. I'v been watching regularly for 10 years, but it still seems like the ref just does whatever the hell he wants. returnreturnGuess what, after reading the official rules, officially, the ref does whatever the hell he wants. returnreturnThere is a few complicated rules about when the and where the ball is dropped during different stoppages of play, but for the most it wasn't much new to me. It would be useful to have handy, but not to just read through as a borrowed library book.

L. Neil Smith: Their Majesties' Bucketeers (Paperback, 1981, Del Rey)

Some thing flashed and a great roar deafened the audience. When the smoke and green-tinged …

I did not like this book. I read it because I absolutely loved the earlier books in the series, particularly the first one "The probability Broach" however their majesties bucketeers is barley related. To the point I ever contacted the author to see if LibraryThing had the series in correct order. returnreturnThis story takes place at an earlier time than that of Win Bear, on a far away planet before they had contact with Earth. The dominant species on their home world has three of everything (three arms/legs/three genders/etc.) and since Smith wrote it, of course they love guns!returnreturnThese unbeliever crab people can't stand water. To the point they discuss what is basically evaluation and the idea they they ever had to consume water to live, let alone lived in it. Also Smith is obsessed with smoking in this one. I don't understand why some science fiction writers feel the …

Leonard Nimoy: I am not Spock (1975, Celestial Arts)

I Am Not Spock is Leonard Nimoy's first autobiography. Published in 1975, between the end …

This autobiography is really short. Even so nimoy repeats his self several times and could have used a good editor. returnreturnThe story is not told in chronological order, so its good its so short or I'd get lost returnreturnBasically Leonard tells how he is not Spock, but sometimes he forgets this. Yes in a way he has been typecast, and he has tried to run from that, but it just pays the bills so damn bad. It's clear that he has never had a real job, and talks about acting as if its so much more difficult or challenging than other jobs, but most of those stories could be the same as an 50-60 hour a week job. (And the rest of us don't have an off season). returnreturnWhat I liked best where the copies of internal paramount memos (think the 60s version of emails) back and forth about silly …
